Messr's Haire, Patton & Co. sinking a shaft on Captain Feltons land 4 miles from this place have discovered one day last week a rich vein of blue oxide copper being very valuable about 70 parts copper. The Messr's Clardy is testing for copper on the farm of C.P. Waldrop about 3 miles away.

Accident

2 coaches to convey passengers over the Etowah River was upset 3 days ago with a full load, several passengers were seriously injured but no lives were lost. The driver Billy Patterson was under the influence of the coach.

Negro Stealing

man gave name as Vickner whose real name was Poole was arrested and locked in the calaboose. A former keeper of the Alabama Penitentiary stopped at the hotel and recognized Polle and his 2 boarders. He had a negro man and woman and has stole other negro's in the vicinity.

Railroad Accident

The down train on state raod was thrown off the track near Calhoun. Evidence of gross neglect struck a cow with a cow catcher and proceeded 400 yards before slowing down. The cow met with some obstruction threw engine of the track. Someone is to blame.

obituary

Died at her residence in Pike County Major D. A. Allen in the 74th Year. Major Allen was for several years a Cass resident and joined the Presbyterian Church in 1818 and an elder in 1819. One of Cassville's best citizens.

Larkin Reynolds age 15 accidentally shot by his older brother who did not realize the gun was loaded, emptied into his brothers abdomen who died almost instantly.

Zachariah G. Turner of this county died at his residence Sunday last of typhoid fever. his loss was severely felt.

Died in Cassville on the 20th after an illness fo 36 hours with congestion of the lungs Mary Phebe, Daughter of Reverend W. H. & Mrs. G. W. Robert age 6 years 3 Months and nine days.

Death of Reverend Richard A Miller died at his residence in Cartersville on teusday evening last of typhoid fever. minister of the Presbyterian Church. Tribute of respect from the Cartersville Lodge in November 22nd

Died 8th inst Daniel Mosteller of typhoid fever at 56 years of age. A good man of the Baptist church leaving a greif stricken companion and 5 children.
